Sid Meier Games Go Mobile

Take Two Interactive has signed a deal to put Sid Meier games mobile: That includes the titles Civilisation IV, Railroad Tycoon and Pirates!, some of the most popular games around. The mobile games are scheduled for release in 2008 and will be developed by Oasys Mobile, which worries me. Oasys is a gnat’s whisker from going bankrupt and desperately seeking ways to avoid that. Doug Dyer, appointed CEO last December, has abandoned its online content portal and decided to concentrate on developing content for big brands such as Mattel, Hooters, National Lampoon, and now Sid Meier. The licenses may make it more attractive to potential buyers or investors, depending on the terms that were signed.
The only game talked about in the e-mail release I was sent was Sid Meier’s Railroad Tycoon, which will “contain most features of the original classic...as well as significant updates, including enhanced graphics with isometric views, customizable rules and streamlined, intuitive controls”, and is due next March.
